| UPCOMING EVENTS January 2012 Check out the latest birds seen around Boundary Bay and the Fraser River delta at Delta Naturalists' Society's Casual Birding blog Low temperatures and snow this month are keeping small birds close to feeders and waterfowl in ditches and open water. Bald Eagles are common and easily seen around Boundary Bay. Short-eared Owls are flying in the daytime in salt marsh and old grass field areas (e.g. Brunswick Point, 72 St) in locations similar to the Snowy Owls. Common Redpolls, an irruptive winter visitor, have been recorded from a number of locations in the delta, including Deas Island.
